Description

This acrylic painting was inspired by the likeness of 1920s film star Louise Brooks. I find her inspiring because she is an icon of the silent film era with her signature bob hair cut and dark smirk. This painting’s composition is extremely zoomed-in on her face for a dramatic effect. I chose to use fantastical colors that almost make her look like a computer animated character. Looking back it is easy to think of all women in the 1920s as meek, but my research into these film stars proved that couldn’t be further from the truth. This painting shows the false idea I had of them before my research.
