Description

This acrylic painting was inspired by the likeness of 1920s film star Alla Nazimova. She was an American silent film actress from the Ukraine. I find her inspiring because she was a powerhouse for the time, not only an actress, but also a screenwriter and film producer. I used black and white colors to make it look like a print from a film at that time. This painting depicts her acting and she is aware that she is being watched. I used soft elegant brushstrokes to capture the light feathery movements of how women were portrayed in movies at that time.
